Task 1 - Write a letter to a member of parliament.
You will need to research the Antarctic Treaty, what it is and what purpose it serves. Then consider the possible consequences if the Treaty articles or other legal instruments were not in place.
In your letter, you should express a strong opinion about why it is important for Antarctica to remain protected by the Antarctic Treaty, supporting your arguments with the possible consequences if the Treaty were broken.
When writing your letter refer to the guidelines for writing an exposition, ensure you use a variety of modal verbs to emphasise your strong feelings about this topic and use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Your letter should be published using Word and can be embedded onto your 'Environmental Issues' page on your website. You also might like to send your letter off to the appropriate member of parliament.

Task 2 - Create a podcast, vodcast or write a rap about an environmental issue.
Select an environmental issue that threatens Antarctica. Read widely and record your information in your HSIE book. Once you've gathered enough information about your issue create a piece of dialogue that informs the audience of the issue and attempts to persuade them to support possible solutions to the problem.
You may present your dialogue as a podcast or vodcast or you can perform it as a rap. Apps you might like to use include: Audioboo (podcast), iMovie (vodcast), Talking Tom and Ben News (vodcast) or Video Star (rap). You can also use the flipcams to record and then upload your movie to your website.

Task 3 - Design a presentation for all visitors to Antarctica to watch.
Your presentation can be created in any one of the following forms: brochure, PowerPoint, Prezi, Biteslide, Educreations (app), Doceri (app) or as a video.
It must include:
An overview of The Antarctic Treaty
AND
Guidelines for behaviour while visiting Antarctica. Consider transporation, length of stay, time of year, disposal of food and human waste, conservation of flora and fauna, recreational activities.
Below is a student example of a Prezi on Antarctica.
